On Wednesday, October 30, the Attorney General's Office of Oaxaca announced the recovery of a teenager who was contacted by criminal groups through the online game Free Fire. Authorities intervened before the young person reached Sinaloa, highlighting the use of video games as a recruitment tool by criminal gangs.

The Attorney General of Oaxaca, Bernardo Rodríguez Alamilla, announced at a press conference the case of a teenager from La Lobera, Oaxaca, recruited by organized crime through Free Fire. The family reported the incident to the Attorney General's Office, triggering the activation of protocols for searching for minors.

The joint work of the Attorney General's Offices of Oaxaca and Sinaloa allowed locating the teenager on a bus heading to Mazatlán, Sinaloa, through geolocation. Authorities intervened and rescued the young person, proceeding with the necessary steps for their return to Oaxaca and reunification with their family.

During the conference, the Attorney General emphasized the importance of protecting children and adolescents in their online interactions, alerting parents to the risks they face in virtual games, such as human trafficking in its various forms, whether sexual exploitation, labor exploitation, or related to drug trafficking.
